How do I create an in-text citation for CSE?

Answer

If you are following CSE based on Scientific Styles and Format (8th ed.) you should use the Name-Year system. This means that parenthetical in-text citations follow this basic format: (Authorlastname Year).

So, for example, if you wanted to cite an article written by John Smith in 2005 you would have the following at the end of the sentence: (Smith 2005)

More information about CSE/Scientific citation is available on the Citation Support guide on the library website.
